|CAR-95 GL 5.8 mm|
|Type||Bullpup Assault Rifle / UGL|
|Caliber||5.8×42 mm / 40 mm|
|30 / 1|
The CAR-95 GL is simply a modified version of the baseline CAR-95 variant that has an underbarrel grenade launcher attached to it. As with its parent model, it is also chambered to fire the 5.8×42 mm round, while the grenade launcher can fire 40 mm grenades.
It loads from 30 round curved magazines and can attain a fire rate of roughly 652 rounds per minute, with a muzzle velocity of 930 m/s. The CAR-95 GL's top and side rails can be fitted with accessories, and is also able to mount muzzle attachments. Meanwhile, the underbarrel grenade launcher is combined with a leaf sight that can be zeroed to launch grenades at distances of up to 400 metres.
In terms of performance, the CAR-95 GL is identical to its Mediterranean CSAT counterpart and are both outclassed by the MX accuracy-wise. The CAR-95 GL does have a higher rate of fire compared to the MX (652 versus the MX's 625) however, but is still lacking compared to the Katiba (800).
Also, because the underbarrel grenade launcher uses a conventional leaf sight as opposed to a red dot quadrant sight like its Mediterranean CSAT/NATO counterparts, it is also slightly more inconvenient to aim with (though the capabilities remain identical).
