Karts DLC

ArmA 3's Karts DLC adds a Go kart vehicle and also includes a signal flare gun. It was released on May 29th, 2014.^[1]

Start your engines and bring the battle to the race track. Arma 3 Karts features a 20hp 4-stroke engine go-kart, several kart liveries, playable race driver and marshal game characters, new kart-racing Time Trials and Steam Achievements, plus various race objects to build your own racetrack.

This light-hearted DLC grants owners the ability to drive go karts in a collection of preset races and/or time trials.

Other content includes racing-themed props along with modules that can be placed by Zeus players to build either singleplayer or multiplayer Check Point races.

Karts DLC was initially presented by Bohemia Interactive as an April Fool's Joke for 2014.^[2] However, reception to the concept was positive and it was eventually turned into an official DLC.^[3]^[4]
A portion of the proceeds from the sales, totalling one million Czech Koruna, were donated to the Czech Red Cross (IFRC).^[5]
All of Karts' content was temporarily made available for free until June 1st, 2020, to celebrate its sixth anniversary of release. Prospective owners had to manually claim access to the DLC before its content would be registered within their Steam Library, however.^[6]

We definitely didn't even think about doing karts in Arma 3 (because it's a bit mental ;-)) before that moment. We wanted to validate our DLC strategy. This prompted us to get Redstone to finish the kart to required quality levels, add a few props and do some Playable Content.
