The GOSHAWK is a thermal scope used exclusively by the Takistani Army in ArmA 2. It was added with the release of the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack.

Design

This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack.

The GOSHAWK is a thermal riflescope intended for use on 5.45 mm assault rifles, though it isn't actually configured specifically for any specific calibre:

• AKS-74 assault rifle (5.45 mm)

The GOSHAWK's reticle is of a PSO-type, though it lacks a stadiametric rangefinder. The chevron at the centre of the reticle is ranged for targets at distances of up to 300 metres. The scope itself cannot be zeroed manually and is always fixed at 300 m, but allows its user to switch to aiming via the rifle's own ironsights (which supports zeroing from a minimum of 100 m up to a maximum of 1,000 m).

Unlike most thermal-capable scopes, the GOSHAWK is restricted to a black-hot thermal vision mode. It cannot switch to any other mode and is limited to this specific spectrum.

Trivia

• Following the latest Steam version patches (as part of CorePatch's changes), the GOSHAWK now allows its user to switch to the AKS-74's ironsight as a backup mode.
• Until ArmA 3's release, the GOSHAWK was the first and only thermal scope available to REDFOR factions in the entire series.
• 
  On rare occasions, the GOSHAWK's thermal mode may fail to activate and cause the scope to become an unfiltered day vision-only optic.
  • Because the GOSHAWK cannot toggle any other modes the user will be stuck with regular day vision until they "look" through a different thermal-capable scope, or until they drop/retake the GOSHAWK-equipped weapon.
