Design[]

Premium content logo
This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Karts DLC.

The Kart is a civilian open-wheel go-kart with a single four-stroke engine.

Features
There are up to ten variants of the baseline Kart; all are functionally identical to each other, but have their own unique paint scheme or a custom livery that advertises their commercial sponsor.

Mobility
The Kart can perform sharp turns and can accelerate very rapidly while driving on paved roads but has very poor handling while off-road. Its open design also leaves the driver exposed to damage from collisions.

Crew Capacity
It has a seating capacity of just one for the driver themselves. The Kart is unable to carry additional passengers.

Protection[]

The Kart has a base armour value of 4. As civilian vehicles, no addon armour modules can be attached onto Karts.

The following highlighted positions serve as weak points on Karts:

Orange = Engine
Violet = Fuel tank

Body[]

The Kart's body can only take a meagre 2 points of damage before its integrity fails. 100% of damage is shared with the Kart's main health pool, and it incurs a 150% increased damage penalty from high-explosive (HE) type munitions.

Engine[]

The engine is only able to take 8 points of damage before failure. No extra damage will be taken from HE-type munitions, but at least 20% of damage will be shared with the Kart's main "health" pool.

If damaged: Reduces power output and acceleration.
If destroyed: Instantly immobilises the Kart.

Fuel tank[]

The fuel tank can withstand up to 20 points of damage before rupturing. It does not incur any additional damage from HE-type munitions, but will still share at least 20% of incoming damage with the Kart's main "health" pool.

If damaged: Gradually leak up to 70% of fuel over time.
If destroyed: All fuel remaining depleted over the course of several seconds.

Wheels[]

All four wheels are only able to resist 4 points of damage. They take 400% increased damage from HE-type munitions. At least 30% of damage is shared with the Kart's main "health" pool.

Trivia[]

  • The Kart was originally teased as part of an April Fools joke (April 1st, 2014) video released by Bohemia Interactive.[1] They were eventually added to ArmA 3 as part of a purchasable DLC due to popular demand.[2][3]
  • It is one of the few vehicles that supports randomised number decals when placed in the Eden editor.
  • Like static weapons, the Kart can be manually flipped upright by its driver if it gets stuck due to a rollover.

  3. van 't Land, J.J. 2017, It all came together around the same time: We had an artist (Redstone) tell us about and show us his hobby model of the kart. We definitely didn't even think about doing karts in Arma 3 (because it's a bit mental ;-)) before that moment. We wanted to validate our DLC strategy. This prompted us to get Redstone to finish the kart to required quality levels, add a few props and do some Playable Content. A lot of that work was done by people outside of regular work time indeed. April Fools' was on the horizon. Potentially negative reactions to the splendid split video might have prompted us to not go through with an official DLC., Reddit, viewed 11 June 2023, <https://old.reddit.com/r/arma/comments/53susm/what_dlc_content_is_worth_it/d7x7hd7/>.
