Ramirez (better known as Richardicz) is the main antagonist of ArmA: Armed Assault's Rahmadi Conflict campaign.

Background[]

Ramirez was the former president of the Democratic Republic of Sahrani.

In 2004, Ramirez had apparently passed away after suffering from a heart attack. In his place, Prime Minister Torrez assumed his position as leader of the country and two years later, would launch a full scale invasion of South Sahrani.

In reality however, Ramirez used this incident as an opportunity to go into hiding on the island of Rahmadi not too far off from the Sahrani mainland.

According to Torrez, leadership of the country; including the call to invade the South, had all been carried out under the direct orders of Ramirez.

Rahmadi Conflict (2006)[]

Though the North had been partially successful in its invasion of the South, the army had been forced to a grinding halt after U.S. reinforcements arrive to back up the remaining South Sahranian and American troops at Paraíso.

With their assistance, the South is able to mount a counterinvasion and proceed to take over large parts of the North. After a few more days of bitter fighting, the main SLA force defending the capital Bagango, falls to U.S./South Sahranian troops and Prime Minister Torrez is captured.

All this time, Ramirez continued to monitor the situation closely and had called for all remaining SLA forces to regroup at Rahmadi. Ramirez however, had already made plans to flee from the island as he knew U.S. forces were on the constant hunt for SLA remnants.

True to his prediction, American troops stage an amphibious assault on the island after U.S. special forces succeed in clearing a landing site for their forces during the night. Ramirez ordered the SLA remnants to launch an attack against the camp the next day, distracting the Americans whilst he fled on boats to the island of Porto, another isolated landmass 72 kilometres away from Rahmadi itself.

From here, Ramirez made additional plans to escape into hiding, hoping to evade detection by using civilian transports as cover to get out of the country intact. U.S. special forces were already closing in onto Porto and time was running out fast.

« Yankees! Damn! Captain Vega, we need more time. Send your men to the city to make chaos, it will delay the Americans!
Ramirez orders his men to massacre civilians
»

In an act of desperation, Ramirez orders his elite Especas bodyguards to cause havoc in the city to delay the Americans. Meanwhile, he personally commandeered a transport to make his way towards one of the ships.

However, his plan is foiled when the Americans succeed in stopping the massacres. Worse yet, he wasn't able to get far before U.S. special forces, led by Sergeant Leon Ortega, managed to spot and cut-off his getaway vehicle.

« Ortega: Hands in the air! Don't try anything! Now you're gonna atone for every barbarity you've done!
Ramirez: We both know that I personally did nothing.
Ramirez is captured by U.S. forces
»

With no options left, Ramirez opted to surrender and was quickly restrained by the Americans - all the while remaining adamant that he bore no responsibility for the invasion of the South.

Post-Rahmadi Conflict[]

Ramirez is quickly taken away by U.S. forces that arrive to back up Ortega's team and with his capture, the last remnants of the SLA are dissolved completely.

What becomes of Ramirez in the aftermath of the conflict is not known, though Ramirez possibly awaits judgement at the hands of an international tribunal as well as the new unified, South Sahranian-led government.

Personality and Appearance[]

Ramirez is a Sahranian male with a light complexion, a faintly-shaved moustache, and has short black hair. He wore a slate grey officer's cap/uniform with red shoulder boards and a black tie, and also donned a pair of shaded sunglasses.

A shrewd individual, Ramirez preferred to act on the sidelines to keep himself at arms length away from being implicated in anything criminal. A prime example of this was faking his own death and assigning Torrez as a puppet; all so that his invasion of the South could go smoothly and if it failed, others would take the blame in his place.

Trivia[]

  • Although official material refers to him as "Ramirez", he is never named as such in-game and is exclusively called "Richardicz" instead.
